First Sergeant William “Bill” “The Bone” Corkran
Bill Corkran was First Sergeant of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 68th Armor, 8th Infantry Division (Wildflecken) until shortly before Desert Storm when he was medevac’d back to the United States with a relapse of cancer.  He died shortly after that.   Many of his soldiers served as fillers and replacements in 1st Brigade during Desert Storm, and he is also dearly remembered as a great instructor and wise mentor at the Virginia Military Institute from 1986 to 1988.
