During late summer or early fall of 1970, we went to a site to swim our tracks. To this day, I don't know where this was. Any way, the photos are pretty self explanatory and in chronological order. The photo on the lower right was included just to show that operations had to be halted periodically when a large ship or barge would pass. Everyone had to wear life-jackets and were told to keep the hatches buttoned up while we were on the water. In the lower right photo it appears that the TCs are standing up in their hatches (so much for following orders). I can remember the rolling, pitching sensation and the bilge pump straining to expel water leaking into the vehicle (they weren't totally watertight). I still can't believe these vehicles would float. I thought this series might be of interest or bring back some memories to some of the vets.
