Schloß Kaserne - Butzbach, Germany

Schloß Kaserne in Butzbach was one of the oldest continuous use military
installations in Germany. After World War II, the U.S. Army took
possession of the kaserne. The 3d Armored Division added it to its list of
distinguished homes during Operation Gyroscope in the mid 1950's. As such,
Schloß housed at one time or another such units as 2d Battalion, 3d Field
Artillery, portions of the 503d Military Police Company and 122d Main Support
Battalion, the 503d Personnel Service Company, the 3d Armored Division NCO
Academy, and other units.
In the early 1990's, the U.S. Army left Schloß Kaserne and turned the
property over to the City of Butzbach and the Landkreis Wetterau. Below
are images from different times during the history of Schloß Kaserne, including
her 1999 demolition.
