Romanway Housing Area (Stadt Butzbach)

Romanway was the main U.S. family housing area for the Kirch-Göns Military Subcommunity.  Its name comes from the fact that this housing area sits in part atop a Roman military camp from the days of the Roman occupation of much of the Germanic territories.  Not far to the north of Romanway Housing Area sits the remnants of the Limes Wall.  In the days of the Roman empire, this wall was for Germany what Hadrian's Wall was to Great Britain.

Romanway Housing Area is still in operation although Ayers and Schloß Kasernen have since been closed. Romanway now houses troops from Gießen to the north and Friedberg to the South.
