I was a soldier in A Battery and served in ODS. I was in SSG Rice section, SGT Whiznaut was the Gunner, CPL DeVille was the AG, PFC Ballet Driver and I served as TC for the M577 and ammunition handler, if memory serves me correctly. It truly has been some time since then, however as you can see I'm active duty once more since 2008. Deployed for the third time with 10th MTN currently in AFG. I guess in short, were there ever anymore awards or honors bestowed upon us the "Gunners" from O.D.S?

My father, Frank Becerra, was in the Spearhead Unit of 3rd Armored Division - 36th Armored Infantry Regiment. He passed away Nov. 24, 2008 age 94 years old. He received the following: Battles and Campaigns: Northern France Rhineland Go 33 Wd 45 - Decorations and Citations: EAME Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars - American Theater Campaign Medal - Purple Heart Medal Go 21 HQ 250th Sta Hosp. 23 Mar 45 - World War 2 Victory Medal My father, Frank Becerra, was in the Spearhead Unit of 3rd Armored Division - 36th Armored Infantry Regiment. At age 90 years he drove to our home in Conneaut, Ohio to see the re-enactment of D-Day which this year is Aug. 20 & 21 here. Our beach is very similar to Normandy beach and that is why it is here. I was in the 503d admin Frankfurt all of 69 and all of 70 I was a personnel records Clerk in team 5 miss my friends and think about you all now that I'm older, have some pics, ernie, hank, Jeff, Ken and others. I just watched a tour clip of the base as it stands today and I must say--it sure grew in the last 46 years. I did recognize some stuff, but not much. And I remember Friedberg as a sleepy little town that rolled up its sidewalks at 9pm. It was a very nice place to be at that time of my life. I only have good memories of the experience. As far as the size of the base, all I can say is WOW. I never knew they could expand like they did. Thanks for the memories. Joe

I was first in 3ADivarty in late 60s as B battery Commander of 1-40th FA then again in mid 70s as Divarty S3 then Battery commander at 1-40th then Bn S3. Col Dinges was the Divarty commander at that time. LTC Dennis Runey was the 1-40th commander. The experience was great for me and family, and like most knew Graf, Hohenfels, Wildflecken real well. I did retire after 23 years service to my country and the Army.

I was an Information Specialist (E5) assigned to Kirch-Goens throughout 1969 and wrote articles for the Spearhead, Ist Birgade newspaper and for Atmy Times. I purchased a BMW R-69S motorcyle and travelled all over Europe, sometimes with a group of airforce bike riders that called themselves "The Bones." I think I was the only Army person to have a cycle as a POV in that part of Germany at that time.

Myself, SGT Owens, SGT Latch deployed with HHC 1st BDE TAC, and stayed with them until we left the Safwan airfield to go back to Kuwait to link up with 2-3. Just returned from KG in June 2010. Not much left of the kaserne. Looks like the chapel and the mp shack are the only things remaining. Spent some time in Butzbach. The town has not changed much but alot of new stores. Got a cab driver to dirve me around the old towns. It was really great to get back.
