I am trying to locate Desert Storm Vet Cpt.(at the time)Willie Bradley 54th FSB Transportation officer.Probably an LTC now if still on active duty.I am also trying to find crew members of an M1 Abrams tank that,on the last night of the ground somehow got seperated from it's unit.On that night, I was ordered to follow an African-American officer Cpt or Maj.to find and recover a tank and its crew. We were successful in finding the vehicle and crew intact. The next day when we were reunited with our respective units, the cease fire had already been called.Any assisatnce anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.hippiendn99@yahoo.com

Hey all you former Butzbachers out there from the Schloss Kaserne, had a large 16"X12" patch made for my motorcycle jacket, commemorating the 3AD at the Schloss Kaserne. Was stationed there 68-70.Had it on along with my son Raimund, who was also stationed there 70-72, for "Rolling Thunder" in 2004. Got lots of old Spearheads noticing it during the parade. If your'e interested shoot me an e-mail, I'll send you a jpg.picture of it. Like to see lots of us for the 2005 Rolling Thunder ride. Had the 3'X5' 3AD flag flying off my Roadking also. See you guys this Spring... Lou

Still looking for a few of the gang from HHC just prior to Desert Storm. Dan Dempsey showed up in D.C. and is now a US Marshall (which is difficult to believe). I am now a SFC in the Virginia Army Nat'l Guard and have been deployed to Afghanistan since July, should be heading back to D.C. July of '05. Vollenweider, Mikey, Brant, Duenez, Cherry, any other of the S-2 and S-3 pogues...you should be able to type on a computer. Also met up with other "Rock" vets - guy named Ken Johnson was in 3/5 and then came into the Guard. Drop a line if you guys see this!  *** I emailed Doug about our Adopt-A-Vet program will pass on his reply.

LTC Thompson had a halftrack recovered from some range back in the mid-60's. He had the mechanics fix it up and he would ride in it during parades. (He also carried [and saluted with] a swagger stick tipped with a shiney .50 cal! There's no accounting for taste; even in the Army.) The halftrack was parked in front of 2-36 Inf. battalion HQ at Ayers Caserne. Does anyone know what happened to it?

A couple of us from the 2-36 Inf e-mail ring were wondering.

Hello, i'm a student at the University of Bielefeld. I study photography-design. I'd like to take pictures with some soldiers, but i don't have a clue, who may concern. Any phonenumbers or e-mail adress? Would be so nice, if somebody reads this and thinks: Oh nice thing, a student likes to create a book about US soldiers in germany. He takes portraits from me a my buddys, that sounds good to me... Just send me an e-mail. THANX and marry x-mas

I need some help getting records. I've been trying (for almost 15 years) to get disability for a neck injury I recieved in REFORGER 1986. It seems that most of my records from the 209th Dispensary in Hanau never made it to St Louis. Does anyone know who I can contact. I've tried myself and my US Congressman cannot find them either.

I just wanted to write a comment about my grandfather. His name is Ralph H. Campbell and he served for the 43rd or 48th, (I can't exactly remember) Infantry in WWII. James Trahan was the commanding officer. I found some of his pictures online, but can no longer access them because I don't have a password. If anyone has any pictures of him during his time of duty I would love to have copies of them. My grandfather died in May of 99 after a battle with cancer. We miss him greatly. Thankyou for you time.

Coleman Kaserne had "not getting along together" problems in 1963 . . . the Army brought in MPs with trucks & lists of the "troublemakers" . . . they were gathered up & most were redistributed to other posts in Germany . . . sounds like by the late 60s/early 70s they couldn't keep up with the volume. I was assigned to HHC CCB for part of 1963 . . . the MPs & their truck showed up at the driveway around the pond early one Sunday morning -- I was coming off Post Radio duty. (I watched them with their lists as individuals with their bags packed came out of the barracks to load onto the truck -- it was obvious those individuals knew they were to be packed & ready to go.) PS: Post Radio duty included monitoring the telephone comm check from the Berlin operator (to Coleman Kaserne) between 2400-0100. The theory was that if the folks on the other side of the Fulda Gap were going to start something, one of the first actions would be to cut the telephone land lines from Berlin across East Germany to the West. I am not aware of how many kasernes had the telephone land line hookup from Berlin. Regarding the East German Border, Gelnhausen was in a forward location compared to most other Army posts in West Germany. (The Post Radio operator on duty was to notify the CCB HQ duty officer if the Berlin call didn’t come in.)

!!!!Swinging Budingen!!!! The year is 1975, the duty was tough; the KP, Guard Duty, Airfield Guard, CP, Field Duty and Alerts were excessive; but what the heck, we survived the cold war. A lot of memories of Budingen and surrounding communities. Stopping at ol number "9." on the way to the airfield. Walking through the castle gate, big bottles of wine, and very fine bewer; walks in nearby hills and castle walls. Remember the cliffs? The Zum Ankor, the Hole In The Wall, and other fine drinking establishments. The trips to the ski slopes at Schotten, and Schotten LAke??? Ronnie Byrd, Donald Driggers, Steve Bando, Ira Bonifay, Guzman, Steve Gorely, Ziggy Ziegfried, Danny Newman, and many others that memory fails. Where are you guys?

My father Pfc Edward Webber Company L 47th Infantry 9th Infantry Division was attached and rode backs of 3rd Armored Division 33rd Armored Regiment tanks in April 1945 during the Allied drive to the Elbe River known as Tast Force Hogan. They over-ran town after town until the finale battle at Dessau. Dad always had great respect for the 3rd Armored. Eddie Webber

Amazing when you think of the years that have gone by and you see a site like this. With all of the things going on during the tour Feb 70 thru Aug of 71. I was Batallion Welder for the 2/48 Inf HHQ. If any of you are out there send me a E mail. Remember the Riots and the LTC bringing up the quad 50's and telling the group that took over HQ building they had 60 min to leave or he would level the building. The same group stole a case of M17 frag gernades and was blowing up things around the post. Most of all remember the Large Rats that owned the basement and lower quarters.

events and images from the last couple days clearly demonstrate our media, pundits, military leaders and politicians still don't get it. not at all. rumsfeld got his butt smoked by that soldier concerned about his units' scavenging for steel in an attempt to better protect their vehicles. by god, even geraldo rivera is up in arms because our troops in iraq and afghanistan (remember afghanistan) are patrolling the deserts and cities in thin skinned vehicles, especially humvees. our soldiers have no business being in humvees in the first place. i wonder how the humvees would hold out to an airburst artillery barage in a more conventional showdown? looking back, isn't it obvious our ground troops were shamefully sold out over budget constraints the last fifteen years or so, witness the preponderance of humvees over bradleys falling victim to both roadside bombs as well as ambushes in the combat zone? in fact, some reports indicate the insurgents do not stick around when tanks and bradleys show up. what and who started this push toward light infantry? even up- armored humvees are woefully inadequate. if the u.s goes into iran and syria, and these foreign armies and specifically the armored and artillery forces survive the initial american air onslaught the humvees could have a hard time, a real hard time. they better stay well behind the front lines and hope guerilla activity isn't strong. by the way, did anyone catch rumsfeld's response to the soldier, that the factories were at full capacity and therefore the american public would have to make due? maybe russia has a few old bmps for sale? by the way: reliable sources cite the russian government's stance that the iranian regime is not a beligerant in the middle east but actually controlled by more moderate even cooperative forces. interesting.

look's like the sh... is starting to hit the fan, finally, over our soldiers in iraq running around in humvees like sitting ducks. it's all over cable tonight and the kiss ass brass is making all kinds of lame ass excuses any of us that served in germany can see right through. rumsfeld got his butt smoked today by a soldier concerned about his units' thin skinned vehicles, specifically humvees. the wall street journal ran a front page article 3 days ago exposing this travesty toward light infantry. now cable is all over it, not to mention our president g.w. giving lip service to giving our soldiers the best equipment available. said it once, said it twice, say it again: even up-armored humvees are sitting ducks. our troops deserve better, much better. wait until we invade iraq, we may not have seen anything yet.

Hi, while surfing the internet I've found a photo of a very good friend of mine: 1SG Kenneth Moulder. We met in 1984 while he was stationed in Ansbach, Germany. He then moved to Fort Polk(spelled correctly?), Louisiana. Unfortunately we lost contact. Is there anybody who knows/knew him and who can tell me where 1SG Ken Moulder lives today? Thanks. Gabi

Spent 3 yrs on Edwards Kaserne with the 143d Signal Bn..plenty of time in Graf too!!! Anyone know LTC Prusinovski (Bn Cdr), 1LT Williams (Adjutant), and CSM Carter.

Had a baby in the 97th General Hospital. My little Frankfurter...

I went back to the Kaserne in 97 and found it to be really run down. They were doing some construction on the buildings and planning to use it for apartments (per the contractors).

After 21 1/2 yrs in the Army I retired and now live in TN. Any fellow 3d AD folks going to the reunion in '05?

Koeppern ammo detail at the 3rd Armor Div Nuke site, if I remember right, we were at stationary guard posts, two man details with night vision scopes and M-16's fully loaded of course. I remember also that they had guard dogs that ran the premeiter of the fence and as long as you stayed in your stationary post you were safe from becoming dog food lol. I also remember at night you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, but with those night vision scopes you could see the cows across the field grazing. Outside of the post they had a small animal zoo that I remember going to, not much else to do there except eat and drink, and wait for your shift on guard duty. Outlaws Rock On! I am still looking for Robert Rutherford from Pensacola, FL or the Chaplain's asst of 3/12 Cav (Ives) from Kansas or anyone else. Thanx folks. melthebirdman@hotmail.com shalom mel

I am so glad that I found this website, it makes me feel that I have connected with the guys that served with and under my husband (1LT James L. Patterson,III) and those that I worked with as the battalion secretary for 5/5 CAV. I wish that I could get in touch with some of the soldiers that I was close with like: CPT David Lee (my neighbor in RomanWay housing), CPT Wilson (the former S-1 that I worked with prior to leaving in July of 1990), Spc Dwayne Sims (who was in the S-1 shop) and Spc V. Leiws (S-1 shop. Yes, CPT Schaffer who was my boss when I first arrived at 5/5CAV. Yhen too, Iwould like to find out where some of the soldiers are that served with my husband 4/32AR. Like LT C. Olsen (who went to OCS with my husband), All the football players form B Co 4/32 who played under the coaching of LT Patterson. This was great and I hope to hear from some of them soon. Please keep my updated on the events of 3AD. My husband and I were there from August 1987 until July 10, 1990.

There were two Koeppern Sites. The big ammo dump aka Koepperm South, Pre-stock Point 3J and the 3rd Armored Division's Nuclear Storage Site which had only five bunkers and was double fenced. This is where Sfc Ccruz was shot and kill in 1964 (see causalties of the cold war). In December 1963 the 503rd Adm told I was going to the Rock, Ayers Kaserne, KIrch-Goens. I was told KG was called the Rock because it was on a mountain top and looked Alacatraz from a distant. After making the EIB 12 mile march at KG, It was clear. At 3 mile or 4 we climb a steep hill and then for the rest of the course, you look to your left and see the Post like a Rock. The last mile was all up hill to the back gate and the high ground. I mostly called it KG or Ayers, but a few people called it the Rock. Mainly folks who were glad thet were not stationed here. I was in the Davy Crockett Section From Feb 1964 to June 1966, which was billeted on the first of B Company.

What were we guarding at Koppern?  *** Koppern was a large storage facility that a little bit of everything in it. Had many ammo bunkers a large CBR area and the most barbed wire I have ever seen. We used the jeeps to patrol the perimeter with some walking posts and gate duty. We spent a week at a time out there.

I was very disapointed as I checked out the site and realized that very little has changed in the WW II portion of the site. Several parts of it have been barely "under construction" since the site was created, some worthwhile parts of it have been eliminated. Please build it, not tear it down. One compliment goes to the person who greatly improved Glenn Shuance's Photo Album, as General Rose's driver, he had an interesting part in the war.

Anyone from HHCCAB found this place yet? It would be cool to hear from some of you. Hell, anyone who went to NCO clubs from 89-93 probably saw me playing guitar. Band was called Blitzkrieg/Blitz/Zero/Swyger....tons of names. Played regularly at the Topper in Frankfurt and tons of other places all around Germany. We used to play "The Boat" next to Pioneer Kaserne quite a bit as well. Would be cool to hear from you guys. I have a ton of videos from back then too if you are intereste in bringing back some memories.

Hi to everyone.

First of all congratulations to your interesting site. i enjoyed the pictures and informations very much. Unfortunately i didn't find what i was looking for.

Maybe someone of you can help me. I live in Heidelberg, Germany and i'm looking for a good friend of mine while he was stationed in Germany. His name is Timothy Barber and he came from North Carolina. I got to know him in the very early 90s (guess around 1991/92) at Coleman Barracks in Mannheim, Germany. At this time i lived in Ludwigshafen. After a few years he moved to the 3AD at Ayers Kaserne in Kirchgöns, Germany and lived in Butzbach. He married a german friend of mine (Angelika Reuther). Because of the large distance we only saw each other rarely and later (i guess around 1996/97) i lost sight of him. Maybe they moved back to the states after the closing of Ayers Kaserne.

Does anybody know him and his actual adress ? I would like it very much to see him again.

Thanks in advance for your efforts. i'd appreciate it very much if you mail me.

Andrés Lindau

Does anyone play Battlefield 1942?

I'm looking for a few seasoned Tankers to form a hard fighting battle clan. (BF 1942 is Grafenwoehr and Hoenfels without the mud and horse flies.)

Just checking to see if there are any D Troopers out there. Remember the hole in the wall, Oma's Bier Bar, and the strolls through castle park. Budingen was a beautiful town. If anybody has any real stories, would love to hear. Also for any Army buddies, pls drop me an email

Gelnhausen was a great experience and I have kept in touch with as many as possible SFC Santiago(CSM Ret), LTC St Onge(MG Ret), CPT Hayhurst (LTC Ret), 1LT Kenehan(LTC), MAJ Haig (COL Ret), and we can't for get our most famous person that served there. MAJ Sanchez(LTG) who use to be the XO of the armor battalion. On this great journey that we have all taken, it was nice to make some life time friends. I only hope that we can still stay in touch. I visited Gelnhausen back in Jan 04, to let you know the post still looks the same not much has change. The buildings up on the hill have been turn into apartments, and yes 1-48 Mess hall is now a restaurant. I met the owner of the building and he gave me a guided tour. Oh by the way all the buildings have elevators, maybe the army should have thought about that. Hope to hear from anyone that was station there in 1-48 Inf 86-89. Dragoons All the way.

I arrived at Ayer Kaserne in Aug 1962, My first pass was on the day they called an Alert for the Cuban Missile Crisis. We went on manouvers for about 3 months setting support to defend Fulda Pass. I went to Hoenfells, and was in operation Big Lift at Grafenvior, In the winter of 1963, I can't seem to remember all the dates But I remember Chorba, Lally, Ron Schaefer, Tito Rodrigues, Chubby Cunculs, Ybarra, Mastacusa, John (Biff) O'Brien, I use to sing with a group of guys (accapelo) Davenport, Esteves, and I can't remember the other two brothers name. But I spent a lot of time at the EM club which was right acroos from HQ Co. 2nd ARB 36th Inf. Mess Hall. I also boxed on the Btn. Boxing team. I was a Featherweight 126 to 130 lbs. I sometimes remember names of the CO and First Sgt. I remember the Big Kahuna from Co "C". If anyone rembers me or my action get in contact with my email. Take care and wish for the action in Iraq to finish and our troops back home with dignity and pride. I have a niece who is serving in Iraq now. God Bless the U.S. A.

Several months back I joined the association. When I received the membership packet it contained a letter and a wallet size membership card, but there was no userid or password for the members only section sent with the packet. Since most of the stuff I liked to browse was in the public area I didn’t really need it, however since the association is migrating some of pages to the members only area I find that I now need the userid and password. On 9 Nov 04 I sent an email to the associations president requesting a userid and password, as of 19 Nov 04 I have not received any type of response. Why? Maybe if I place my request in the guestbook maybe someone will read it and respond.

Bennie McGrew MSG (Ret) *** Your post has been forwarded to the proper person at 3AD.ORG. Sorry for the delay.

Bennie, the presidents computer got taken out a few weeks ago, he got a new system but has been struggling to get back up and running. The Association Secretary was out of the country and just got back. I tried to send you the password via e-mail but the address on your application bounced and you left none here.  I apologize for any problems this has caused any of you. Anyone who needs the user name and password for right now should contact me at secretary@3ad.org and I will take care of you.

Bennie

I just tried to send you the information ( 10/22/04 at 1230 pm) & received another bounced email. Please contact one of us to get the log-in & password and update your email address.

I am currently assinged to the 481st T.C. at Kuwait Naval Base. During D.S. we were based at KKMC and my crew,(UH1V)was sent to Log Base Charlie on the 22nd of Feb.1991. On the 02 Mar. 91 we (343rd)established Medivac ops. at Kuwait International Airport in the Weather building south of the treminal. We terminated Ops. 07 Apr. 91. I was told that we were 'under' the 3rd's command during the ground phase and able to wear the 3rd AD instead of the ARCENT/3rd Army patch. I was at Camp Doha yesterday on a medical detail and I found some localy made 3rd AD patches!! I have not been able to locate any until now. (I have 11 months 'incountry' and 1 to go.) I put one on my DCU's in place of the ARCENT patch. NOW... I have NO writen notice that if we were ADCON or OPCON to the 3rd AD and the AR's have changed stating that if you were ADCON or OPCON for over 30 days you are intitled to the governing units patch. Please advise me if I'm out of line. Thanks SSG. D.B. Smith Jr.
