Very nice site. I served as the 1SG of C-4/32 during it's COHORT experience as well as the 1SG of HHC, 1st Brigade. I beleive the pic of the barracks is C Co, 4-32, previously Co C, 2/33 across from the fire station.

I was assigned to 3/5 in 1989 and served with E Co. until it was disbanded and assests transferred to HQ Co. I deployed to Desert Shield with 3/5 and served through Desert Storm until returning to Germany in June 1991 with the unit. I remained with 3/5 with its transefer to the 1AD and was assigned to A Co. I Enjoyed visiting the site. Very nice job. Please add my name to the 3/5 HQ Co, HQ Platoon roster. I would like to hear from any friends I served with such as (then) Cpl. Wemeister Comment:  the 2d Battalion, 32d Armor inactivated on Ayers Kaserne in 1992.  During Desert Storm, 2-32 AR did not deploy as such, but the 1st Platoon, Bravo Company did deploy and served in combat with D/4-32 Armor as part of TF 5-5 CAV.

A/317th was task organized with the 23En Bn and habitually associated with 1st Bde during the late 80's as one of the "testbed" units to implement the new E-Force structure (one engineer battalion per manuever brigade). A/317th En participated in numerous 1BDE CMTC rotations (Hohenfels) , REFORGER, and Gunneries (Graf).

The 317th En Bn deployed with 3AD to the Desert (Advance Element) assisted in the establishment of the Division Assembly Area....and was later task organized in support of the 1st ID just prior to offensive operations.

Webmeister note:  3-32 AR was reflagged as 2-67 AR on 5/17/86. Under this flag the unit continued with 3AD until after the Gulf War. Before redeployment the unit was transfered to 1st Brigade 3AD. When 3AD was inactivated in Feb 1992 the 1st Brigade and all subordinate units, to include 2-67 AR were transferred to the new 1st AD. The battalion was reflagged again as 2-37 AR on 2/16/97 and continues to serve with 1AD at Ray Barracks in Friedburg.

What happened to 2 Bn 36th Inf. (Rangers)???

Webmeister note:  2-36 Infantry was reflagged circa 1988 to the 3d Battalion, 5th Cavalry.  3-36 Infantry was reflagged at the same time to 5th Battalion, 5th Cavalry.  Both battalions remained with the Ready First Combat Team but fought in Desert Storm under 5th Cavalry lineage.

This website brings back great memories. I was the med platoon leader for 5-5 CAV from 89-91. Its good to see all the "Bayonets" submitting their comments. I had a 3yr active commitment. IOBC 2/90 assigned to D/2-36 Inf in 8/87. Served as second Plt leader under Cpt Bill Bradshore (later Al Gore's military advisor). Later he was replaced by Cpt Tyrone Turner. Tyrone later went to Hohenfels to command the OPFOR for BCTP. We changed flags sometime around 98. I was assigned to HHC as the support Plt Leader. Satyed there "till I DEROS'd in 2/90. Most of the platoon in Desert Storm was my former platoon. (very difficult for me to watch the war on CNN when my platoon was there). Got back into the USAR. Served in a training Div from 90-92 then went to my present battalion: 443rd Civil Affairs.

I was a 63C, track and wheel mechanic. I sent the photo of the main gate. I used to race a ww2 halftrack on the post that sat in front of our headquarters, when I first got there, it was painted in a camoflage paint, I later painted it all solid green with our unit logo on the side, hopefully, this pic will be on this web site soon. Most of the guys new me as just Schlar....I worked for Chief Welch at first then for Chief Shaefer in the motor pool....lots of neat memories from there, I want to go back and visit someday.....

As far as I know there was noorders issued for the liberation of Kuwait medal or the South West Asia and the oak leaf cluster that went with them. I am still looking for these copies. If anyone has a copy or know an address please share the wealth.

I commanded B Company of the 503d FSB. What a great unit to have led and shared combat with. I couldnt ask for better people - even today. I'm currently at Fort Stewart as the Executive Officer of the 703d Main Support Battalion. Lifeline! Ready First! Support! Spearhead!

I SERVED WITH 4/18 FROM 01 DEC 1990 TO OCT 1991. AS SOON AS WE GOT BACK FROM SAUDIA THE UNIT WAS DEACTIVATED SO A LOT OF US NEVER RECEIVED THE AWARDS THAT WE WERE DUE. IF ANYONE CAN PLEASE ANSWER THIS FOR ME IT WOULD GREATLY HELP. IF YOU LOOK IN AR 670-1 IT SAYS FOR ACTION IN A HAZARDOUS AREA FOR 6 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS. THE DATE OF ARRIVE COUNTS AS A FULL MONTH AND THE DATE OF DEPARTURE COUNTS AS A FULL MONTH.
