A 1/26 was a TAB unit that was transfered from 42nd fa group in Geissen to 3AD in Hanau in OCT 76, and in 78 renamed F TAB 333d FA and was split in half between huitier kasserne and francois, and then move to erlensee in when I was in ft hood.also the only FA units in DIVARTY was 2/3,2/6 and 1/40.Anything you want to about the 3 AD I know,feel free to email me.

The site brings back the memories. Due to my having all of my photographs stolen, I was finally able to show "The Rock" to my wife. I was there 83-86 with the old 2/36th Infantry. I am so disappointed that the division was deactivated.

Greetings 3AD: Nice to visit your web site and read about your unit. My son was a member of the 3rd.AD during Desert Storm and was from Gelnhausen. Now he is part of the 1st. ID in Schweinfurt, soon to relocate to Ft. Hood, TX. I am retired from USN, E-7 Chief Petty Officer, and a vet of the Vietnam conflict. Served in-country 1965 aboard wooden hulled minesweeper in the Saigon River and vicinity. Great to know your outfit is still "On the Line" and ready for action. Keep up the good work on your web site and I hope you locate the culprits who are doing the TRASH.

First 3AD assignment 1976-1978 on "the Rock", Scout Platoon, CSC, 3-36 Infantry, 1980-1992 3AD HQs Drake Kaserne Frankfurt. Built/opened 3AD Museum 1981, closed museum, transferred artifacts to Ft. Knox and 1st AD 1992. Started 1AD Museum in Baumholder 1992 with many artifacts from 3AD including captured Gulf WarIraqi vehicle collection. We maintain historical files on those 3AD units which reflaged to the 1AD. I will be happy to assist fellow Spearheaders in their historical research as our files allow. When in Germany, drop in for a visit and see momentoes from both the 1AD and 3AD past at the lst Armored Division Museum in Baumholder.

I was assigned to the 2nd Battalion 33rd Armor at the "ROCK" between 6/67 and 12/68. Our company (Charlie) was located on corner of D street and 2nd avenue. The theatre and gym and fire station were directly across the street. I believe our "TIGERS" motto was "2nd to None " or "Men of War."

The kaserne information for A/40th FA is incorrect. We were stationed on Francois Kaserne, across the street from Hessen-Homburg. We were co-located with 2/20FA (8" howitzers) from I believe the 72nd FA brigade. Keep up the good work. "Deep Strike!"

I thoroughly enjoyed this site. I've long awaited it's creation.
