Service: Cold War | Years: 1984-1985 | Unit: 1/40 Arty | Company, Battery or Troop: A Battery | Other: | Comment: My last name was LaPlante during my enlistment. I was raised by my step dad, Stephen Traupman, and had the option of taking his name at the time I was sworn in. I regretted not doing so, but did take his name in 1995, after a divorce and discovering that LaPlante was not my biological father. Anyway, I loved my time in the 1/40th. I missed it before I even got settled at Ft Sill. After 5 million miles over the road, trucking, I look back and realize that hindsight is not 20/20! It’s microscopic. G-D bless you all.
